Between DC and NY

Copyright 2015 by S. W. Paul Wyszkowski

"That's neither DC nor NY" observes Prickles, the hedgehog I live and put up with. True, very true, that's exactly what is the case. We're suspended in a strange space which may, sooner or later, resolve into a definite place, presumably NY, Westchester to be more precise. Anyway, Possum Hollow has ceased to feel like home - it is now a mountainside Appalachian property in process of being emptied so that it can be prepared for sale in the hopefully near future.

As for the space we live in, it's not so much space as a process - a process of discovery and invention as the ground shifts under us and our world is changing rapidly while we try to keep up and adapt. It's not bad. It's life in the fast lane, a high adventure, stressful but exhilarating.

"It certainly plays havoc with your M&R schedule," Prickles notes. Well, yeah, but man does not live by M&R alone. Eventually, things will stabilize and we will look back fondly on these chaotic times. But I'm sure we'll find further adventures to make life a continuing joy and keep the pot bubbling. "That's what I'm afraid of," says Prickles. We have nothing to fear but fear itself, Prickles. "What about the monsters in the closet and under the bed?" she asks. Without them life would be appallingly safe and peaceful. Thank heavens for the monsters to keep us awake and attentive. "Oh," she says.
