Return to the Origin

Copyright 2015 by S. W. Paul Wyszkowski

"That lacy thing is the Origin?" Prickles inquires. Does it not look like the Origin? "I don't know what the Origin is supposed to look like," says she. I'd say it is the point from which everything else issues. "You haven't seen it, have you?" says Prickles, "This is just a figment of your imagination, right?" What's wrong with that? "Nothing, except the title. It should be 'What I Imagine Return to the Origin Might Look Like'." Listen, we artists don;t have to be precise and rigorous. In fact, we mustn't be. It's our job to remind everybody that what we know of the world is all in our minds and fuzzy to boot. And it's good that it is. You can die of excessive clarity. Certainly it tends to kill enjoyment of the world. Actually, when it comes right down to it, being is only possible in a fuzzy world and the appreciation of it can only be in our minds. So just enjoy my imagined "Return to the Origin" - you can't and really don't need to know what the "real thing" looks like. And you're not missing a thing. Trust me. "OK," says Prickles, "I trust you. Just because it's simpler." Good reason.
