DEPT. OF EXISTENTIAL WONDER

What Hath God Wrought?

Copyright 2015 by S. W. Paul Wyszkowski

What I like about this picture (taken in Prague a few years ago) is the explicit mix of cosmic and commonplace. I like the bracketing of contemporary, quotidian people between an astronomical clock and the church [a]spires. Science and religion are Siamese twins linked at the hip and rooted in existential wonder. In our daily grind to survive and thrive we tend to take ourselves for granted (as well we should) but it is nevertheless a fact that we are the most fabulous and astonishing creatures in the known universe. "I beg to differ," says Prickles.
