Variations on a Theme

Here is what it takes to create everything: consciousness, change and desire. From these, infinitely varied worlds and lives are spun in all their dazzling complexity. Change is inherently unpredictable but it is guided by desire. Change yields the infinite variation, desire seeks out beauty and understanding. Which occur when consciousness perceives patterns that are in harmony with one another. The harmony may be simple or complex. It is the the source of the rhythm and meaning in all being. And the source of all music and all arts.

Flip! I just changed the original patterns (all derived from a single image) into their exact opposites. What was black is now white, what was purple is now green and vice versa but the harmony remains. Progressives and conservatives, take note!

"I'm a libertarian, myself," says Prickles. Ah, then you need to recognize the values of authoritarianism. "Are there any?" she asks. Is the Pope Catholic?
